Foundation Friday: Best Selling Foundations at Sephora….and my thoughts

I got this post idea from Taylor Wynn. She is one of my favorite YouTubers and you need to be watching her.

At the time I wrote this post, there were 34 foundations in the “Best Sellers: Makeup” category. I’ve reviewed a lot of them, tried a few with no formal review, and there are some on my “To Try” list. The current list is different and is probably different daily, but we’re going with this one.

Foundations I’ve Reviewed
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place, $43 (APPROVE, review)
Too Faced Born This Way, $39 (APPROVE, review)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous, $38 (APPROVE, review)
NARS Radiant Long Wear, $49 (APPROVE, review)
beautyblender Bounce Liquid Whip Long Wear, $40 (APPROVE, review)
Dior Backstage Face & Body, $40 (APPROVE, review)
Urban Decay Stay Naked Weightless, $39 (APPROVE, review)
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Longwear, $44 (NOPE, review)
Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte, $36 (NOPE, review)
Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Full Coverage, $38 (APPROVE, review)
–Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating, $36 (NOPE, review)
Sephora Collection 10 HR Wear Perfection, $20 (MEH, review)
BareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear Powder, $33 (APPROVE, review)

Tried
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover, $43–I don’t remember how I felt about this one. I need to try it again
It Cosmetics CC+ Cream, $39.50–shade range and undertone is garbage
KVD Vegan Beauty Lock-It, $37–KVD is a great brand for fair skin folks. The shades and coverage this foundation offers is great, but it’s a heavy, matte foundation. It’s too much for my dry skin. I can mix it and make it work, but it doesn’t work on its own.
Tarte SEA Water Foundation SPF 15, $39–Great for dry skin, very hydrating.
BareMinerals Original Loose Powder Mineral SPF 15, $32–BareMineral shades lean warm and yellow and I am cool and pink. We don’t mesh.

I’m not into tinted moisturizers, BB creams, and sheer to light coverage products. I need at least medium coverage, but prefer full. I’d rather go without makeup than bother with light coverage. If I do test a more light coverage products, it’s drugstore or I got a sample. I haven’t tried the foundations listed below and probably won’t.

Light Coverage
Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40, $46
NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30, $45
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector SPF 30, $47
BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30, $33
Supergoop CC Cream Daily Correct SPF 35, $39
Make Up For Ever Reboot Active Care Revitalizing, $39

The Estee Lauder Double Wear is $43 and that is the most expensive foundation I’ve purchased. I don’t wear it every day, usually just special occasions or when I know I have a long day ahead and need my makeup to last. I also don’t pay full price for it. I usually buy when I can get it on sale. I’m always buying and trying new foundations so it’s hard for me justify having a $50+ foundation in my collection. You do you, buy what you want! Just know that price doesn’t equate quality.

Too Expensive
Armani Luminous Silk, $64 (lightest shade is too dark)
NARS Sheer Glow ,$47
Dior Airflash Spray, $62
Ilia True Skin Serum, $54
-Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Stick, $46
Laura Mercier Lumiere Radiance-Perfecting, $48 (shades are too dark and too warm)

The Rest
Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Blurring Powder Foundation, $38 (I would like to try this one)
Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Powder Foundation, $20
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Long Wear, $47
