Speed Reviews: Volume XI

NARS Liquid Blush
Claims :: Highly-pigmented; blends effortlessly; long-lasting
Price :: $30 at Ulta, Sephora, NARS
Shade Range :: 3
My Shade :: Orgasm
Pros :: Packaging, pump!; blends easily; gorgeous glow; little goes a long way
Cons :: Not cruelty free; availability; price
Final Thoughts :: This product will last you a lifetime because you need the tiniest amount of product, less than half a pump; I love the classic Orgasm shade. It’s pink and glowy and perfect for every day; I set the liquid with powder Orgasm for extra longevity.

Juvia’s Place Matte Lipstick
Claims :: Highly-pigmented; creamy and smooth; soft matte finish; hydrating; long-lasting
–Price :: $14 at Ulta, Juvia’s Place
Shade Range :: 21
My Shade :: So Red, #2020
Pros :: No parabens or sulfates; cruelty free; packaging; SO creamy; minimal transfer; long lasting; pigmented; agree with all claims
Cons :: Availability
Final Thoughts :: One of the best matte lipstick formulas I’ve tried. These are so creamy and glide on with ease. I love this formula and have zero complaints.

Physicians Formula Bitter Butter Glowing Setting Powder
Claims :: Creamy & soft texture; locks in makeup; blends seamlessly
Price :: $13.49 at Physicians Formula; $11.98 at Wal Mart
Pros :: Cruelty free; sets makeup without caking; agree with all claims; gorgeous glow; affordable
Cons :: None; availability
Final Thoughts :: I’ve been waiting for a good, affordable glowy setting powder. I love the Jaclyn Cosmetics Last Act, but it’s pricey. I got a very similar look with this for half of the price. A lot of folks with dry skin don’t use powder, but I HAVE to set my face and this locks my makeup in place and gives a gorgeous glow to the skin. It’s glow without glitter and doesn’t accentuate dryness. It works great to set, but I also love to use it as a finishing powder.

Huda Beauty #BOMBBROWS Full n Fluffy Fiber Gel
Claims :: Water-resistant; smudge proof; lasts all day; tames, tints, and adds instant fluff factor; volumizing microfibers for naturally fuller looking brows
Price :: $19 at Sephora, Huda Beauty
Shade Range :: 8
My Shade :: Light Brown
Pros :: Cruelty free; shade range; skinny wand; brow conditioning ingredients; agree with all claims; shade match for me; fills in, tints, and keeps my brows in place
Cons :: Availability
Final Thoughts :: Light brown is the perfect shade for me; my brows stayed in place an didn’t look or feel crunchy like some brow gels do; definitely adds fluff and fills them in; I use it alone or with a pencil depending on how I’m feeling; $19 is a fair price

GloWish  Luminous Pressed Powder
Claims :: Coverage without the cake; transfer-proof; lightweight; natural-looking glow; blurs pores without settling into fine lines
Price :: $33 at Sephora, Huda Beauty
Shade Range :: 13
My Shade :: Fair
Pros :: Cruelty free; vegan; fragrance free; skin-loving ingredients; gorgeous glow; lightweight; smoothing; agree with all claims
Cons :: Price
Final Thoughts :: I have been wanting a powder like this for so long. I want to be able to lock and set my makeup in place, but not have a flat matte look and that’s exactly what this powder does. I like to use it as a setting and finishing powder. This is pricey, but if you struggle to find a powder that works for dry skin, this is for you. I’m normally a loose powder gal, but this is great.

Peter Thomas Roth Skin To Die For Primer
Claims :: Instantly blurs; fills and help reduce the look of pores, fine lines, and imperfections with a natural-looking matte finish; absorbs excess oil
Price :: $32 at Ulta, Sephora, Nordstrom, Peter Thomas Roth
Pros :: Actually works at blurring and smoothing; cute packaging; only need a small amount
Cons :: Not cruelty free; price
Final Thoughts :: I’m not oily so I can’t speak to the oil control claim. I have dry skin and it’s not overly mattifying/doesn’t dry me out. This is pricey, but it does what it says and actually works to blur and smooth the skin. If you have large pores and/or fine lines that you’d like to blur & fill, check this out!

Jaclyn Cosmetics Skin Perfecting Blur Tint
Claims :: Sheer coverage; natural finish; smooths and blurs skin; double-duty—blurring primer and tinted moisturizer; just-woke-up glow
Price :: $34 at Ulta, Morphe, Jaclyn Cosmetics
Shade Range :: 12
My Shade :: Fairest
Pros :: Cruelty free; packaging, airless pump!;
Cons :: Online only; shade range; didn’t blur; no noticeable glow
Final Thoughts :: Tamed my redness, but that’s about all it did; didn’t blur or add any glow; not worth it for the price; returning
