Final Thoughts
I am OBSESSED with this powder. I have dry skin, but I’m not into the super dewy, glowy look. Most setting powders are mattifying and don’t look the best on dry skin, but they set your makeup well. I was looking for a product that would set, but not necessarily mattify and accentuate my dryness and I finally found it. This one sets, but doesn’t mattify or cake. It just gives a beautiful, subtle glow. I use this product every single day and it is a dry skin dream. I can’t be without it!

P.S. I use it with this brush. I swirl the brush in and then go in and set. I use a light hand and a light amount of product.

It’s really hard to get a swatch of a transparent powder, but I tried.
AM & PM :: My makeup was set and was still in place at the end of the day. You can see the subtle glow it gives a little better in the picture on the right.

Dupe or Duped? Liquid Glitter Shadows

Claims–Weightless :: Dries quickly :: Minimal fallout :: Holographic effects of pearls and glitter

Price–$9.99 at Target :: $11 at :: $10.99 at Walgreens

Shade Range–4 (my shade: Luster Light)

Pros–Cruelty free :: Affordable :: Glitter/something extra for an eye look without the mess :: Minimal fall out :: Wear alone or over shadow

Cons–Shade range

Final Thoughts–I love the duochrome finish. It’s not as pigmented as the Stila one. It looks better worn over a shadow and is a little too sheer to be worn alone, although you can build it up. It is an eye topper and is meant to be worn over a shadow, but I wanted to mention how it looked on its own as well.

Claims–Maximum sparkle, minimal fallout :: Dries down smoothly :: Lightweight

Price–$24 at Ulta, Sephora, Nordstrom,

Shade Range–15 (my shade: Kitten Karma)

Pros–Cruelty free :: Shade range :: Wear alone or over eye shadow :: Pigmented :: Glitter without the mess

Final Thoughts–I love this and they are so loved and raved about for a reason. It gives a little something extra to any look. It’s easy to use and apply and pigmented enough to wear alone, though you could use it as a topper as well. It blends and applies well on top of powder shadows. A little goes a long way so one tube will last you a lifetime.

No flash :: Flash

There are some differences in these two products, but the point of these products is to add glitter and glam without the mess of a loose pigment/glitter. You are going to get the same effect with both products so save your monies and grab the Milani.

January Favorites

This month’s favorites are SUPER random, but this is what I’ve been loving so I wanted to share anyway!

Erin Condren Planner Folio
–I didn’t get an EC planner this year, but I love this planner folio aka planner holder.
–Of course, I went with the custom option because I wanted to put my dogs and other favorite things on it instead of a design, but there are lots of options.
–I don’t do the full own scrapbook planner with tons of stickers and fancy layouts, but I do use some stickers and this folio is great way to keep all of my stuff together.

J Crew Factory Suede Tassel Stretch Flats
–I got these on super sale and I am obsessed! I love the tassel and the pointed toe. The leopard is calf hair which I love and the tan is suede.
–I ordered the tan first and they were so comfy that I immediately ordered the leopard and black. I accidentally ordered the wrong size in the black and my correct size was sold out so I ended up giving those to my sister. ‘Twas a sad day.
–They are completely sold out, but there are a few sizes available in the leopard. Size up a half size!

Sephora Collection Dynamic Duo On The Go Face Brush
–My elf Massaging Facial Cleanser died and I’ve been too lazy/forgetful to get a battery. I saw this in Sephora and it was cute and travel friendly so I picked it up to try.
–The brush side isn’t too harsh and I love using the silicone side to really cleanse my pores.

Milani Prep+Set+Glow Powder
–This product is so good that it’s getting it’s own post here shortly, BUT in the meantime, just know this is a dry skin dream.

Colour Pop Constellation + Bare Minerals Nude Chiffon
–I always use some kind of primer or cream base when I wear eye shadow. It helps the powder stick and extend wear and it also intensifies the color.
–I don’t love Constellation on its own, but it’s GORG paired with this BM shade.
–It’s been my go to look for eye shadow this month. It’s easy, takes no time, and packs a punch.
–I got the BM shadow at TJ Maxx for $4 or $5 and I can’t find it online to link, but if you see it, get it. It’s so pretty!

It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil
–When I first tried this, I didn’t like it. It pulled very orange/red toned on me.
–I got it in a gift set recently and gave it another try and now I really like it. The shade is a good match and I like the formula too.
–I have cheaper favorites so I’m not going to repurchase when I use this up, but it is a really good product.

Colour Pop Constellation + Bare Minerals Nude Chiffon=GORGEOUSNESS
I finally got a diploma frame, 5 years after graduating, and then I couldn’t find my diploma. Most of my stuff is in storage and I went through every box in my storage unit and couldn’t find it. I ordered a replacement and finally got it hung up in my office. SHE IS BEAUTIFUL.
My sister gave me these scripture cards for Christmas and it was one of my favorite gifts. I have them on my desk and flip to a new verse every day. I look forward to doing this every morning and starting my day with God’s word. I share them on Instastories and I’ve gotten several questions as to where to purchase them. You can get them on Amazon!
I got these Adidas sneaks half off at Belk a few weeks ago and they’re cute and comfortable. I’ve been meeting a friend to walk at the park after we get off work and these don’t hurt my feet no matter how many miles we walk. Image via.

6 Month Project Pan & Reading Check In

If you aren’t familiar with what a Project Pan is or when/why I started, you should start with this post. I did a 3 month check up here should you care to follow this in sequential order.

I started with 8 products in January. So far, I’ve finished up 2 products and weeded out 2 products. Here’s the update on the 4 I have left…

MAC Studio Fix Powder
There is definitely more pan showing and that’s progress! I can/will definitely finish by the end of the year.

Colour Pop Lunch Money
I’m actually tossing this 😥 It’s old and has lost it’s vibrancy and pigmentation.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
Again, more pan showing! This is the bronzer that never ends. I use it almost daily and there’s still so much left. This is really old and I should probably toss it, BUT it’s still working well and doesn’t smell weird so I’m going to keep trucking.

Tarte Paaarty Blush
I’m whittling down and so close to hitting pan. You can see how much I’ve used by the metal that’s exposed in the pan in the picture below.

Y’all I have been slacking on my reading. I still have 13 book on this list to read and SO many others on my Kindle.

You can see the 18 books I want to read in 2018 list here.

So far I’ve read
1. Jersey Girl by Jaime Sullivan
2. Sisters First by Barbara Bush & Jenna Bush Hager
3. I Didn’t Come Here to Make Friends by Courtney Robertson
4. My Story by Elizabeth Smart
5. The Wizard of Lies by Diana B. Henriques
6. Why Her? by Nicki Koziarz

The first 5 are of my list of 18 and #6 was a Bible study I did, but that book is great and I highly recommend it. It definitely changed my perspective for the better!

I’ve got 6 months left to read 13 books, I can do it!

1st Quarter Check In

Earlier this year, I wrote 2 posts that are year long “projects” so to speak. First up, an actual project pan and second, 18 Book I Want to Read in 2018.

It’s hard to believe were are already a quarter of way through 2018! Here’s a quick update on my projects.

Project Pan

The top photo is the starting picture for reference.

  • I used up the Limelight and Tarte foundations.
  • I decided to get rid of the Colour Pop concealer & the Milani foundation. The CP concealer is too dark and the Milani foundation just doesn’t look good on my dry skin. However, Colour Pop is releasing new concealer shades and there are some super pale shade which are perfect for me. I will definitely be purchasing!
  • I haven’t hit pan on my Tarte blush, but I’ve used quite a bit as you can see.
  • I’ve made a good dent in the MAC Studio Fix powder.
  • I use the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer almost every day and I feel like I haven’t made much progress with it or the Colour Pop Lunch Money highlighter.

You can find my 18 Books in 18 post here.

Since that post I’ve read
The Wizard of Lies by Diana B. Henriques
My Story by Elizabeth Smart
I Didn’t Come Here to Make Friends by Courtney Robertson

So far I’ve read 5 books on the list and I’m currently reading And Still She Laughs: Defiant Joy in the Depths of Suffering by Kate Merrick.

I keep adding books to my Kindle Wish List so I may read some different ones along the way, but I really want to get through these 18. Any others are just a bonus!

The next check in will be in June so stay tuned!

–Easily accessible
–Buildable coverage

–Thick consistency
–Can feel heavy
–Hard to blend out with a sponge, I recommend a brush

Final Verdict
I don’t love this on it’s own. I have to mix it with a facial oil to even get it to look half decent. However, it just doesn’t look good on my skin. I think you have oily skin, you would love this. I do like the coverage and that you can build/layer with it. It’s not a bad product at all, just not a good product for me.

Before & After

Primer: First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothie
Facial Oil: Physicians Formula Bright Boost Elixir
Tool: EcoTools Perfecting Cushion Blender
Powder: RCMA No Color Powder with Real Techniques Body Sponge

Project Pan 2018

If you aren’t familiar with the “project pan” concept, the short version is you select products from your collection that you want to use up or “pan.”

I’ve really been trying to use up products I have before buying more, but that doesn’t always happen as I have an addiction to shopping and makeup. Oops?

However, there are a few products in my collection that I have hit pan on that I would like to finish up this year.

Clearly, I’m really close on some of these and have a ways to go on others.

  1. Tarte Double Duty Beauty Confidence Creamy Powder Foundation in Fair Neutral
    • There’s a shade that is light enough for me
    • This has good coverage for a powder foundation
    • Would consider repurchasing this
  2. Colour Pop No Filter Concealer in Fair
    • I love the price and the coverage is good, but Fair is a little too dark.
    • I mix it with my KVD concealer and make it work, but it’s not my ideal shade.
  3. MAC Studio Fix Powder in NC15
    • This is slightly too dark for me so I put this on first and then the Tarte powder. These two give me full coverage quickly.
  4. Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer in 00A Porcelain
    • I love the coverage of this foundation, but it’s pretty thick and I have to mix in a oil to make it work for my dry skin.
    • I can only find my shade online so that’s a bummer too.
    • I’m going to do a full review soon.
  5. Colour Pop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in Lunch Money
    • LOVE this highlighter. Clearly.
    • It’s perfect on it’s own and definitely packs a punch, but I often had a powder highlighter because #extra and I glow to the Heavens.
  6. Limelight by Alcone Botanical Foundation in Ivory
    • Spoiler alert: there’s a full review of this foundation going up tomorrow.
    • Full coverage in a flash
    • Will definitely repurchase
  7. Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Light Bronze
    • I went hard with this when it first came out because for the first time there was a bronzer that actually worked for my skin tone. THANK YOU, PHYSICIANS FORMULA!
    • Once Hoola Lite came on the scene, I kinda let this go to the side, but I’m picking it back up and hoping to finish it.
  8. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaarty
    • I haven’t hit pan on this, but I’ve got to be getting close.
    • This is one of my favorite blushes and I wear it all.the.time.

I’m going to be doing an update in June and a finale in Friday.
