Beauty Busts 2018

Because not every product is a winner

Tarte Shape Tape Foundation (Hydrating) :: I wasn’t impressed with the coverage or the shade. You can read my full review here.
Urban Decay Velvetizer :: Andrea Matilliano recommened this and said it made her skin look flawless and blurred. Umm sign me up! I believe her, but it was just too cakey on my dry skin. It looked horrible.
Becca Soft Light Blurring Powder in Pink Haze :: Can you tell I’m all about the blur? The powder was really nice and finely milled and didn’t look bad on my dry skin, but the shade just didn’t work on my fair skin.
Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Powder :: CAKEY MESS. I bought the mini for $15 and returned it.
—-CoverGirl Peach Punch Highlighter :: This looked so promising and is a pretty shade, but it’s straight glitter. Review here.
Colour Pop No Filter Foundation Stick :: No shade match, not good on dry skin. See a theme here? You’d think I’d learn, but I must try it all. Review here.
—-LOreal Lash Paradise Primer :: I liked this at first, but it got thick and clumpy really quickly. I’m sticking with the LOreal Voluminous Mascara Primer. Review here.
CoverGirl Mascara Primer :: This may be the worst product I tried all year. It did nothing and I don’t even know if I even got the product on my lashes. It gets caught and clumped in the bristles on the wand. Major fail. Full review here.
Colour Pop No Filter Foundation :: No shade match and way too matte for my dry skin. Review here.
Colour Pop No Filter Loose Setting Powder :: Again, CAKEY MESS. Too matte for my dry skin. Review here.
Morphe Highlight & Contour Sponge :: So hard and rough.

Tatcha Water Cream :: I got a small size as a 100 point perk and was so disappointed. I feel like this a hyped product and Tatcha is a hyped brand, but this did not give enough hydration for me. Hydro Boost for life.
Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base :: Another hyped up product that is a good base for dry skin. I got sample and could not get past the scent. It might be amazing, but the smell is awful. This is a moisturizing primer so perhaps it should have gone with the makeup, but I’m too lazy to move it. Whatever. It still stinks.

Beauty Busts 2017

  • LOreal Infallible Lip Paint
    • Can’t handle the scent
  • Tarte Quench Lip Rescue in Nude
    • Glides on so easily and feels amazing, but it’s too creamy. The lipstick broke off after only a few uses.
  • Makeup Geek Lip Products
    • I LOVE Makeup Geek and I was so excited when they came out with lip products. I bought a bundle off Hautelook and I was SO disappointed. The colors were so patchy and I couldn’t get an even application. The shades are gorgeous but the formula needs some work.

  • Wet n Wild Micellar Water
    • I love the Garnier Micellar water and this one was even more affordable so I gave it a whirl. It’s WAY too oily to be labeled as a micellar water. I don’t like oily eye makeup removers or anything like that so this was a no go.

  • Models Own Matte Runway Foundation
    • I love that is affordable and that there is actually a shade that matches me, but this broke up really bad on my skin.
  • Anastasia Stick Foundation
    • Again, there was actually a shade that matched me in this line, but this foundation is VERY matte and doesn’t look good on my dry skin. It was very cakey and just not a good look.
  • NYX #NoFilter Finishing Powder
    • I don’t have oily skin, but this made me so OILY. It’s got a gorgeous finish, but it’s not my friend.
  • Anastasia Concealer
    • The lightest shade, 0.5, was WAY too dark for me. (I don’t think they make this anymore)
  • Kat Von D Lock It Powder
    • I know this works for some people, but no matter how much or how little or what tool I used to apply this, I looked like a major cake face. It didn’t work when my skin was oily and definitely not now that my skin is dry.
  • Kat Von D Lock It Brightening Powder
    • I really wanted this to work because I love a bright undereye but all the shades were too dark. KVD usually looks out for us pale girls, but she missed the mark on that one.
  • CoverFX Illuminating Powder
    • YALL I have never had a makeup product look SO bad on my skin. Thank goodness I only bought the travel size to try out because this powder is AWFUL. It emphasized every pore and imperfection.
