What’s My Skin Type?

I’ve dubbed this week S-K-I-N-C-A-R-E W-E-E-K and I am really excited about it. We’re going to cover ingredients, product recommendations, routines, and all that fun stuff.

However, none of this will make any sense if don’t know your skin type so that’s what we are starting with.

Capture

  • Dry Skin
    • All over tight and dehydrated feeling
    • Skin looks dull
    • Flaky areas
    • Fun fact: skin gets drier as we get older
  • Oily Skin
    • Skin tends to be shiny or have a slick look to it
    • All over slick feeling
    • Prone to break outs
    • Even if your skin is oily, it still needs hydration!
  • Sensitive Skin
    • Skin is easily irritated and prone to inflammation
    • May have acne, dermatitis, and/or rosacea
  • Normal Skin
    • Tricky because everyone has a different definition of normal
    • Skin is healthy and hydrated
    • Can tolerate most products without overreacting
    • No signs of oiliness or flaking
  • Combo Skin
    • Oily in some areas, dry in others
    • Maybe oily during the warm months and dry when it’s cool
    • Combination of any of the above

My skin is far from normal. I have dry, sensitive, acne prone skin which makes finding products really fun. Please note the sarcasm. Prior to some acne treatments, I had SUPER oily skin. I’m not an expert, but I feel like I have a pretty good knowledge base for products since I have had basically every skin type, minus normal, at some point in my life.

If you still aren’t sure what skin type you have, check out this link for some helpful information.

Final Thoughts
I feel like the shades all lean very warm and yellow, but L0 did work for me. The coverage is buildable and builds to full which I prefer. The finish gives a healthy glow which I prefer to a very wet, dewy look. The shade range was recently expanded, but it still needs improving. The first day I tested this, I used a moisturizing, luminous primer and it was a fail. I don’t have oily skin, but I got very oily/dewy and had to use a blotting sheet. Once I used the blotting sheet, everything was fine, but it’s been a LONG time since I’ve had to blot. The second day, I used a more mattifying primer and it held up and looked much better. I do like this, I just had to figure out the best way to use it for my skin.

Final Thoughts
I FREAKING love this powder. I didn’t think any powder could live up to my beloved Fenty, but this one definitely does. It lives up to all of its claims and I can’t get over how flawless my skin looked. It worked on my dry skin and didn’t cake up or accentuate dryness. I really don’t like the scent, but it doesn’t linger and the product is so bomb that I can overlook that. I can’t say enough good things about this product. I tried with different foundations and powders and it worked with all of them. I highly recommend it!

Final Thoughts
I had really had high expectations for a Jeffree Star product and it definitely met all of them. I legit have nothing bad to say about this product. I hate that it’s not in stores, but you can exchange it if you order the wrong shade. All of the exchange policy info can be found here. It works well the Jeffree Star Magic Star Powder and my go to under eye setting powder, the Fenty Pro Filt’r in Lavender. This concealer paired with one of these powders seriously make your under eye look flawless/airbrushed/blurred. I love this and I’m really regretting not getting the Peach corrector. I will be purchasing when it comes back in stock.

This then That

My back up box is constantly overflowing for a few reasons. One, I don’t like running of products I love and use regularly. Two, I love to test and try new things. If I see a product I want to try, for instance a micellar water, I’ll buy it and stick it in this box to use once I finish up the one I have open. Here’s a peek into my backup box and to see when I finish this, then I’ll use that.

SPRAYS

April Notes
(original post here)

  • Ulta Moisturizing Foundation Stick–Decided this isn’t for me. I used to love it, but it’s just too emollient, won’t set down with any powder, and tend to rub off.
  • Milani Prep+Set+Glow Powder–I freaking loved this powder, but all of a sudden it started darkening my foundation so it had to go.
  • Becca Khloe x Malika Palette–I like this, but for the price, I wanted to LOVE it and I just don’t. If you’re interested in this, I’ve got it listed on my insta for a dang good deal.
  • Cover Fx Face Palette–I ended up taking this to work to keep in my makeup bag there. I like it, but I wouldn’t pay that price for it.
  • Stila Smokey Quartz Liquid Eyeshadow–This was the tone that I thought it was. I thought it was more brown/bronze, but it leaned more gray on me so I gave it a friend.
  • Urban Decay Chill Setting Spray–I don’t why I don’t reach for this, but I just never do. I gave it to a friend too.
  • Maybelline Tinted Mascara Primer–I like this, but nothing has topped my beloved Loreal Voluminous Primer.
