November Favorites

This is the most pathetic monthly favorites in the history of ever. I almost didn’t post it, but I don’t skip monthly favorites so here we are.

favs

  • NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Bound
    • This is one of my favorite lip formulas and the perfect go to shade for easy, every day wear.
  • Diff Eyewear Winston Blue Light Blocking Glasses from shopziaboutique.com
    • I wanted a nicer pair of blue light glasses and my friend, Zelle carries Diff at her boutique. She had a flash sale so I picked up a pair in the style Winston. I LOVE THEM. They are very well made make such a difference for me since I work at a computer all day. I want to get another set of frames and have prescription lenses put in them.
  • Lash Lift and Tint
    • If y’all live in eastern NC, you have got to go see Kristy and let her transform your lashes. I’ve had my lashes tinted before, but not lifted. It’s life changing. My lashes are so long, they look fake and they stay curled. I’m going to do a full post on my experience, but just know it’s amazing and I can’t live without it.

I was feeling my look that day–fun earrings, new shirt, fall lip, and these bomb glasses.

Final Thoughts
I can never get sheet masks to peel in one even piece, but this one actually did. Major victory for me. My skin felt soft and smooth, but not as soft as it does after using my GlamGlow peel off mask. I really struggled to get an even layer of application and the packaging made it difficult to get the product out. It’s not the best, but not the worst. I wouldn’t buy it again.

Final Thoughts
This used to be my tried and true favorite foundation, but I haven’t had it in my collection or used it in a long time so I wanted to try it again. I had oily skin when I last used so I was curious to see if it would still work for me now that my skin is dry, The Dewy & Smooth was a HOT MESS and I was hesitant that this would be but it wasn’t. I love the formula, coverage, price, staying power, and you sure can’t beat the price. Even if you have dry skin, I still think is worth trying. It’s one I plan to keep in my collection.

Purchase or Pass? Volume I

There is SO much new makeup coming out all the time and I love following different beauty accounts that have all the sneak peeks. I would love to buy and try ALL the makeup, but I do not have the time or the funds for such SO I’m just going to do a little round up here of products I plan to purchase (or have purchased) and those I plan to pass on.

Images are from Amazon, Google, or Trendmood.

  • Colour Pop Frozen II Collection
    • Those shades aren’t really my favorite and I’ve never seen Frozen so I really don’t care about this collection.
  • Jaclyn Hill Highlighter Collection
    • The shades were pretty, but there was just nothing I was dying to have. I’ve very happy with the highlights in my collection.
  • Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Volume I Eyeshadow Palette
    • I go back and forth with whether or not I like Tati and want to watch her. Regardless of my personal opinion, she knows makeup. I don’t really like warm tones and while some of these shades are pretty, I know I wouldn’t get enough use out of the palette.
  • Morphe 39L Hit The Lights Palette
    • Morphe palettes are well priced and this one is really pretty. It has good neutrals and some fund pops of color, but I just don’t have a need or really even want this one.
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Pro Palettes
    • Wayyyy too much color for me. If you’re a professional makeup artist, these would be great for your kit, but for the every day girl with an office job like myself, it’s just too much.
  • KKW Beauty x Makeup by Mario
    • I’ve never tried any KKW Beauty products and while I like the more subtle colors in this collection, I feel like I already have similar shades in my collection.
  • MAC Holiday Collection
    • I love MAC, but when I saw their holiday collection I wasn’t floored.
  • Kylie Holiday Collection
    • I’ve tried a few things from Kylie and liked them, but I don’t go bananas over her stuff. I’m sure this will sell out in no time, but there weren’t any products that were just calling my name.
  • Jeffree Star x Shane Dawson Eyeshadow Palettes
    • I loved watching the series these 2 did together, but like I said about the ABH palettes, it’s just too much color for me. I wish Jeffree would sell singles because I’d love to try his formula, but his palettes are just too much for me.
    • I’d love to get a lip product from the line though.
  • Sol Body The Face & Body Highlighter
    • Again, I’m content with the highlighters in my collection and I don’t go anywhere that requires a body shimmer product.
  • Physicians Formula The Gold Vault Face Palette
    • Point blank–I think the colors in this are hideous.

L’Oreal Lumi Shake & Glow Dew Mist

  • Price–$14.99 at Ulta :: $11.49 at Target :: $14.99 at Walgreens for 3.0 oz (travel size $7.99 at Ulta for 1.0 oz)
  • Pros–Packaging :: good mister :: nice scent :: easily accessible :: sets makeup nicely :: ingredients (Vitamin C & coconut water)
  • Cons–Expensive for drugstore :: not cruelty free
  • Final Thoughts–This is not an overly dewy spray which I prefer but if you looking for extreme dew, this is not for you. It sets makeup well and have a really nice mister, but I didn’t knock my socks off. I purchased the travel size and used it up, but I am glad I didn’t purchase the full size.

  • Final Thoughts–I don’t know what kind of magic is in this, but it just transforms makeup and makes your skin look amazing. I have one in use and a back up. It’s my go to setting spray. If you have dry skin, you have got to try this. It’s a game changer for sure.

I’m sure you can guess, but I prefer the

CATRICE!

This tends to go out of stock on Ulta’s website so whenever I’m shopping in store or online and it’s available, I grab one. I know I will use it!

Mask Monday: Sleeping Masks

IMG_0807

What are they?
A sleeping mask is used as the last step of your skincare routine to provide added moisture, brighten & purify, and help seal in your serum, oil, and moisturizer. Different masks have different ingredients so depending on that, you can use more of less frequently. You can use over a moisturizer or in place of, up to you.

I, personally, don’t like to sleep in these masks. I don’t like the feeling of something heavier on my skin when I sleep. After I remove my makeup and cleanse, I apply the mask, and leave it on all night. Right before I go to bed, I rinse it off and then finish up with my serum, moisturizer, and eye cream. I also like to keep mine in my skincare refrigerator for an added calming effect.

LANEIGE LAVENDER SLEEPING MASK

Claims– Delivers intense hydration while you sleep :: helps dryness, fine lines and wrinkles, dullness and uneven texture :: brighten and purify

Price– $25 at Sephora, laneige.com :: ~$20 on Amazon for 2.3 oz

Product Range– Lavender and Original

Pros– Smells SO good :: ingredients–hyaluronic acid :: affordable :: no paragons, phthalates, or mineral oil :: like the lightweight, gel texture :: leaves skin soft, smooth, and plump :: cooling effect

Cons– Cruelty free :: availability–online or Sephora stores only

Final Thoughts– I really love the lightweight formula as lots oh hydrating masks can be very thick. I love the smell and it’s so calming. Even though I don’t sleep in the mask, I can still keep the benefits of it. LOVE this mask!

BELIF AQUA BOMB SLEEPING MASK

Claims– Replenishes and revives dull, dry skin for a dewy, radiant glow :: pillow proof formula that absorbs quickly.

Price– $34 for 2.53 oz at Sephora, belifusa.com

Pros– No parabéns, sulfates, fragrance, dyes, synthetic preservatives :: dermatologist tested :: lightweight, gel formula :: leaves skin soft, smooth, and hydrated :: cooling effect

Cons– Not cruelty free :: expensive :: availability–Sephora or online only

Final Thoughts– I got a sample of this, but I got several uses out of this so the full size would last a while. The cooling effect feels so good and makes me feel like the mask is really working. Again, I don’t sleep in this, but I can still feel a difference in my skin after a few hours of wear.

Conclusion
–I like both, but the Lineage is cheaper ad works the exact same, so I’d go with that one.
–Neither one of these products are cruelty free so keep that in mind if you only purchase cruelty free products.
–Drugstore option 1) Neutrogena Hydro Boost Overnight Mask Pod :: very similar to the belief mask
–Drugstore option 2) Aveeno MaxGlow No Mess Sleep Mask :: smells amazing, no mess application
