Speed Reviews: Volume XIII

Makeup Revolution Eye Bright Under Eye Corrector
Claims :: 8 hours of sleep in a pot; light reflecting, illuminating radiant glow; cake-free; fast absorbing; lightweight; correct and brighten under eye by neutralizing discoloration and dark circles; perfect base for concealer
Price :: $8 at Ulta, Revolution Beauty
Shade Range :: 2
My Shade :: Light to Medium
Pros :: Affordable; vegan; cruelty free; shade range; illuminating; little bit goes a long way; tones down darkness; worked well with various concealer & powder combos; agree with all claims
Cons :: Availability
Final Thoughts :: Does everything it says; lightweight; didn’t cake; concealed darkness and added brightness; slightly less pigmented than my go-to Charlotte Tilbury Corrector, but still gets the job done

Revolution Rehab Line Fix Under Eye Primer
Claims :: Revive and rejuvenate your skin; smooth the appearance of lines; flawless base for concealer; lightweight; hydrating
Price :: $12 at Ulta, Revolution Beauty
Pros :: Cruelty free; affordable; lightweight; worked with other under eye products; under eye area looked smooth and flawless
Cons :: Availability
Final Thoughts :: Do I still have visible fine lines? Yes. However, this did help smooth the under eye area; it doesn’t claim to make them disappear, and it doesn’t, but it does minimize them; great base for concealer; not sure it’s something I’ll take the time to reach for daily, but it definitely does the job.

Relove Eye Light Metallic Eyeshadow
Claims :: Highly pigmented; creamy; long lasting formula
Price :: $3 at Revolution Beauty
Shade Range :: 5
My Shade :: Queen
Pros :: Affordable; cruelty free; pigmented; gorgeous metallic finish
Cons :: Does not work well on its own, flaked off
Final Thoughts :: The first time I tried it, I wore it on its own. It dried down and the completely flaked off. There was glitter all over my face and my glasses; the second time, I set with a powder shadow (Stila Kitten) and it stayed in place; works best as a base or a topper; don’t recommend it, but I can make it work.

Colour Pop Feather Effect Brow Pen
Claims :: Creates natural looking hair-like strokes; lasts all day; mistake proof micro-tip applicator; build up to desired intensity; all day wear
Price :: $8 at Ulta, Colour Pop
Shade Range :: 3
My Shade :: Medium Brown
Pros :: Affordable; cruelty free; vegan; user friendly; love the thin, precise applicator; buildable pigmentation; lasted all day; agree with all claims
Cons :: Shade range; availability
Final Thoughts :: Brow pens have been very popular, but they seemed so intimidating to me. I got this one because it was cheap and if I didn’t like it, no major loss. I was SHOCKED at how easy this was to use. I used my Tarte Busy Gal Brow Gel and thin filled in the sparse area with the pen; looked natural and lasted all day; medium brown is a great match for me, but they need to add more shades

Kiko Milano Baseline Water Eyeshadow
Claims :: Soft, creamy texture; easy to blend; perfectly even color; long-lasting; sheer to intense color payoff
Price :: $12.99 at Ulta, Kiko Milano
Shade Range :: 3 at Ulta; 19 at Kiko
My Shade :: Champagne
Pros :: Affordable; cruelty free; creamy; pigmented; very metallic/reflective/foiled; no fall out; didn’t crease; lasted all day; works great on its own and over a cream base
Cons :: Availability
Final Thoughts :: Online only which is a major bummer because this is SO good; I use it alone, but I primarily use it on top of a Laura Mercier Caviar Stick and it works well both ways; doesn’t crease at all and I’ve worn it for 12+ hours; easy to blend; perfect for an easy, one shadow look; highly recommend this formula

Ben Nye Banana Light Luxury Powder
Claims :: Helps diffuse texture and fine lines; control oil and shine; micro-finely milled for a smooth texture; flawless matte complexion that will give you a brilliant illuminated look
Price :: $16-24 at Camera Ready Cosmetics
Shade Range :: 22
My Shade :: Banana Light
Pros :: Finely milled; doesn’t look dry or cakey; smooths out the under eye area; shade range; cruelty free; no flashback
Cons :: Not easily accessible
Final Thoughts :: Not a very brightening shade on me, it’s closer to my skintone; I usually use a lavender powder to set my concealer, but that can be a bit harsh sometimes; I mixed this powder with the Jaclyn Cosmetics Lavender powder and made my perfect under eye setting powder shade; love on its own, but mixing it works best for me and my skin.

Benefit 24-HR Brow Setter Clear Eyebrow Gel
Claims :: Shapes & tames brows; locks on makeup; wand coats hairs from root to tip; flake-free formula; easy to apply; quick to dry; 24-hour staying power
Price :: $14-24 at Ulta, Sephora, Nordstrom
Pros :: Mini for travel/testing; keeps brow hairs in place; no crunchy look or feel; locks brow pencil/color in place; agree with all claims
Cons :: Availability; price; not cruelty free
Final Thoughts :: I got this half off during Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty Sale; does everything it claims; I’ve been a long time fan of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel but it’s definitely “crunchy” when it dries dow and it’s got a shiny finish. This doesn’t have the crunchy feel and quickly dries down to a matte finish. It looks more natural; I don’t know that I love it enough to repurchase at full price, but I do really like it.

  2. […] Kiko Milano Baseline Water Eyeshadow in Champagne–I’ve mentioned this eyeshadow about a thousand times this year so I won’t go on and on about it. It’s the perfect eyeshadow for me. I love the color, formula, and how intensely metallic the finish is. I wear it by itself or over cream shadows and it stays in place all day. It doesn’t crease or fade and I don’t know why more people don’t talk about this formula. Sadly, it’s online only, but it’s only $12.99 and so, so worth it. (reviewed here) […]
