Speed Reviews: Volume VI

NYX The Marshmallow Primer
Claims—10-in-1 smooths, softens, extends makeup wear for 16 hours, soothes, evens tone, minimize texture, blurs lines, soft focus finish, keeps makeup fresh
Price–$8-17 at Ulta, Target, nyxcosmetics.com :: $16.97 at Wal Mart
Pros—Cruelty free :: vegan :: mini options for travel/testing :: smoothing :: nice canvas for makeup application
Cons—Strong scent :: pricey for drugstore/affordable brand
Final—Similar feel/texture to NYX Angel Veil and Hourglass Mineral Veil :: scent is very strong, but it doesn’t linger :: I do like it, but I don’t see the hype, it’s nothing that hasn’t been done before :: it did not work well under powder foundation, so stick to liquid!

elf Liquid Metallic Eyeshadow

Price—$5 at Target, elfcosmetics.com
Shade Range—8 (5 at Target)
My Shade—Moon
Pros—Cruelty free :: vegan :: pigmented :: affordable :: very foiled/reflective :: easy to apply :: cute packaging
Cons—Creased :: broke up on my eyelid
Final—Swatches beautifully, very metallic and pigmented :: on my lid, it creased, broke up, and wasn’t fully opaque :: I think the liquid glitters are better :: might work better as a topper, I don’t love on it’s on :: I don’t have pics because I gave it away after trying it

BareMinerals BARE PRO Glow Liquid Bronzer
Claims—NO GLITTER :: sheer, natural-looking color :: lasts up to 16 hours ::sun-kissed, no-makeup look :: light-reflecting mineral pearls
Price—$29 at bareminerals.com
Shade Range—2
My Shade—Faux Tan
Pros—Cruelty free :: packaging, pump! :: easy to blend :: little goes a long way :: doesn’t look muddy :: no glitter
Cons—Availability :: expensive
Final—Wanted to try the NARS liquid bronzer, but it’s so pricey. I found these for $9.99 at TJ Maxx :: cream/stick bronzers can be difficult to blend, but blendability isn’t an issue with this product :: it blends out easily and melts right into the skin for sun kissed glow

Catrice Shake Fix Glow Spray
Claims—Prolong makeup wear :: hydrating and refreshing :: ultra-fine shimmer particles for an intense glow
Price—$8 at Ulta
Pros—Oil free :: alcohol free :: cruelty free :: vegan :: affordable :: nice, refreshing mist :: sets makeup :: adds a slight glow
Cons—Availability
Final—I don’t agree with the intense glow claims. There is a glow, but I don’t think it’s intense :: was worried it would be a glittery mess, but the shimmer particles are very fine :: adds a glow and sets makeup well :: honestly don’t see much of a difference between this and the Dewy Glow Spray and you don’t need both

Pixi Black Lacquer Lash Primer
Claims—Rich, black formula :: Vitamins A & E to condition lashes :: define and volumize for intense effect :: essential step for full, voluminous lashes
Price—$15 at pixibeauty.com
Pros—Cruelty free :: separates and lengthens lashes for mascara application :: ingredients to nourish and protect lashes :: can wear alone for natural look or under mascaras for a more dramatic look
Cons—Price :: availability
Final—I snagged this for $3.99 at Marshalls! I like this and will use it, but I wouldn’t pay full price for it. My $8 LOreal serves the same purpose and is cheaper. Mascara primer makes such a difference and I use it every day. This really separated and lifted my lashes.
