October Favorites

These images are from Google (minus the Neutrogena one) and are not my own

You’re getting a product collage this month because I’m too lazy to take actual photos. #sorrynotsorry

I didn’t have a ton of favorites this month, but I rediscovered some old favs which is always good!

  • Love Life Again by Tracie Miles–I did a study on this book through Proverbs 31 and LOVED it. I’ve done several studies with them, but this just might be my favorite. I can’t recommend this book enough.
  • NYX Powder Puff Lippie in Moody–These lippies are so unique. It’s a powder formula that glides so smooth and hold ups pretty well. This shade is a little darker than a true nude, but not too dark. It’s perfect for fall.
  • Bare Minerals Invisible Bronzer in Fair/Light–YALL this is the most gorgeous bronzer for fair skin AND I found it at TJ Maxx for $8. I was going to repurchase the Butter Bronzer, but then I found this one and it was half the price. WINNING.
  • Lauren Akins Diff Sunnies–It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins so naturally I HAD to have these sunglasses when they were released. I love sunglasses and using them to accessorize and change up looks so I have several pairs and these kind of got buried. I brought them back out and I’ve been wearing them a ton this month. Sadly, these were limited edition so I don’t think you can get them anymore.
  • A New Day Rebecca Flats–These are $19.99 at Target and you need them. They come in other colors and they are so comfortable. I was worried they were going to give me blisters, but they didn’t. You need to size down in these. I got an 8 and I usually wear an 8.5, but I really think I could have gotten a 7.5.
  • Neutrogena Hydro Boost Product Line–Neutrogena expanded their Hydro Boost line and I am here.for.it. I love the skincare and they just released lotion and a body butter and I couldn’t get my hands on it fast enough. They smell amazing and are so moisturizing. You need one of everything.

How flawless is my girl Kate?! We got to see the royals a lot this month and I was loving it. She is just perfect and I love her.

Speaking of the royals, my BFF went to London and was so kind as to take me to meet the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. She’s the best. I also gave her instructions, and no budgetary limitations, to get me ALL the souvenirs from their wedding. I went to London the summer after Will & Kate got married and I bought everything with their face on it. Clearly, I need to add Harry & Meghan memorabilia to my collection.

My life in 2 memes.

Final Thoughts
I got a a sample of this with a Sephora order and Y205 ended up being a perfect match for me. I was hesitant to try this since it has “Matte” in the name, but it looked good on my dry skin and didn’t dry me out or cling to dry patches. It was really easy to blend in, didn’t feel heavy, and lasted all day. It also gave full coverage, which is what I prefer. It also worked well with my concealers and powders. I’ve got several foundations that I’m working through so I’m not going to buy the full size right now, but I definitely would purchase it.

Final Thoughts
I knew I was playing with fire when I bought this to test. I just knew I’d fall in love with and want the full size which is basically $50 and that’s exactly what happened. My skin was FLAWLESS and looked airbrushed. The Too Faced Born This Way foundation + this powder=PERFECTION. This is the best setting powder I’ve tried in a long time and I LOVE it. I haven’t purchased the full size, yet, but I may cave soon and just get it.

I love the H. It feels like a personal touch and I love a monogram

Mascara Monday: Too Faced vs LOreal

–LOreal :: Lashes are feathery soft to the touch, voluptuous volume and length, 200+ bristles catch every lash
–Too Faced :: Smudge proof, all day wear, thicken and lock curl in place

:: $8.99 @ Target, $9.99 @ Ulta

–Too Faced :: $24 full size, $12 mini @ Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom

–LOreal :: 4, waterproof option
–Too Faced :: 1, waterproof option

–LOreal :: Lots of volume, affordable, easy to purchase/find, no flaking or smudging, easy to remove, waterproof option
–Too Faced :: Lots of volume, get a fake lash look, mini option for testing/travel, waterproof option, doesn’t clump, paraben free, vegan, cruelty free

–LOreal :: Clumpy, lashes felt heavy and crunchy, not cruelty free, formula dries out quickly
–Too Faced :: Expensive, full size will dry up before you can use it

–LOreal :: I don’t love this, but I don’t hate it either. I can make this work when I pair it with another mascara that can separate and fan my lashes out. I’m going to use it since I bought it, but I definitely won’t repurchase. I see why people like it and I know it works really well for a lot of people, but my lashes are too stubbly and sparse.
–Too Faced :: This is my favorite mascara ever and one of the few high end mascaras that I have repurchased. I recommend getting the mini because the full size will start to dry out before you can use it up. There is a reason this is the #1 selling prestige mascara in America.

Too Faced Better Than Sex
White LOreal Primer + LP
LOreal Lash Paradise

I definitely don’t think these are dupes. The packaging and brush are similar, but the formulas and wear are not. The closest drugstore dupe to Better Than Sex is the Revlon Volumazing. I did a full review on that one and you can read it here.

Foundation Friday: Paula’s Choice Resist Anti-Aging Matte Serum

–Diffuses imperfections
–Medium, buildable coverage
–Skin looks visibly younger and smoother
–Anti-aging benefits
–Soft, matte finish

–$7 @ paulaschoice.com
–$19.97 at nordstromrack.com

Shade Range
–My shade: Level 0

–Good ingredients
–Packaging:: pump!
–Cruelty free
–Buildable coverage

–Shade range
–Accentuated my dry skin
–No shade match for me

Final Thoughts
For starters, I think this might be being discontinued since it’s on SUPER sale and available at Nordstrom Rack. It’s totally fine that if it is because this was not for me. I know it’s a matte foundation and I have dry skin and those things don’t usually go together. However, I prefer a matte finish and with a hydrating, glowy primer and a good moisturizer, I can usually make a matte foundation work. I did full coverage with 2 layers, but I had to use a white mixer because the shade was too dark. This was a no go for me.

Before & After

Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder

–Silky, lightweight
–Natural/luminous finish
–Smoother, more youthful appearance

–$15 for 0.05 oz
–$33 for 0.56 oz
Sephora, Nordstrom, Ulta, toofaced.com

Shade Selection
–3 in the full size :: universal, medium, deep
–1 in the mini :: universal

–Cruelty free
–Hyaluroinc acid is an ingredient
–No parabens, sulfates, phthalates
–Mini option to try before committing to full size

–Little dark and yellow toned to be “translucent”
–Looked awful on my dry skin
–Had to use a blotting sheet for my forehead shine and I NEVER get shiny

Final Thoughts
I HATED this. It looked SO cakey on my dry skin and clung to every dry patch and pore. It aged me and was just not a good look. Thank goodness I bought the mini and didn’t commit to the full size. I returned this.

They mean it when they say mini
