September Favorites

Brush Cup
–I found this for $5 at Marhsalls and it just had to come with me.
–I still love my brush tower, seen here, but this was just something different to have on my vanity for now.

Scout Makeup Bag
–I got this for my birthday and I LOVE IT. It’s big enough to hold all of my makeup when I travel and that’s quite a statement as I usually have to pack 2 bags. It’s even big enough for Jaclyn Hill palette that’s huge.
–It’s got several pockets for storage and organization too.

Japonesque Brushes
–I found these on SUPER sale at Ulta so I bought a few. I need another brush like I need a hole in the head, but I just can’t help myself.
–The High Density Foundation brush makes blending out foundation a dream. I like it better than my F80!
–I’ve been using the Multitasker brush from this set for blush. You can use it for foundation, concealer, powder, anything, but I like a lot of blush and this is the perfect shape for packing it on in the right place.

Nail Swatch Sticks
–I have rather large nail polish collection, close to 200 polishes! Oops. I usually have it on a nail rack on the wall so I can see it all and easily pick a color. However, there’s no where in my current room for my big wall rack so I’m having to store it differently and I needed a better way to organize it so I can see what I have.
–I found this swatch sticks on Amazon and went to town. I’ve done my Essie, China Glaze, Glisten & Glow, and some miscellaneous polishes. My OPI collection is the biggest and what’s left to swatch.

Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara
–There’s a full review here so I’m not going to go on about it, but it’s the one I’ve been reaching for the most this month.

Blue Light filtering Glasses
–If you work at computer all day, do yourself a favor and get these glasses. Your eyes will thank you!
–The brightness of screens, computer, tv, iPad, etc. were giving me a headache and making my eyes really tired.
–I have 2 screens and sit at a computer all day and these glasses have made a huge difference. Best $20ish I’ve spent in a long time.

Physicians Formula Eye Booster Liquid Liner
–This is the best liquid liner I’ve ever tried.
–More coming soon!

Mani Monday: Favorite Fall/Winter Nail Polishes

I’m a firm believer in wearing whatever shade of nail polish or lipstick that you want to, regardless of season. However, there are certain colors that I am more drawn to different times of the year.

Y’all know I share my Monthly Manis each month and nail polish is where my love of all things beauty started. My grandma got her nails done every 2 weeks and I went with her a lot. I remember going in the salon and seeing rows and rows of nail polish and LOVING it. I was exposed at a young age and clearly inherited the gene. When my grandma went into labor with my mom, she was sitting at the table painting her nails and she wouldn’t let my grandpa take her to the hospital until she was finished. Again, I got it honest.

Out of the 160ish (at last count) shades that I own, I managed to narrow it down to 36 shades across 5 color categories.

Cool Tone Browns

Essie Merino Cool: Autumn mulberry
–Essie Hot Coco: Tawny sepia

Essie Turn N Pose: Dramatic, deep plum

Essie No More Film: Creamy, seductive deep violet
KL Polish Mozart: Dusty purple
OPI Kerry Blossom: Plum

–OPI We’ll Always Have Paris: Vampy, darkened plum
OPI What’s The Hatter With You?: Rich burgundy
–OPI Bastille My Heart: Deep burgundy with violet shimmer throughout
OPI Black Cherry Chutney: Dark black-red
Essie Touch Up: Softest mauve pink
Essie Bubbles Only: Classic burgundy creme

KL Polish Cozy In There?: Dusty blue with gray undertones

I thought about some others after I took these pics and I’m too lazy to go back and take pics and a few I don’t have in my collection any more. We’re going to call these honorable mentions
OPI You Don’t Know Jacques
OPI Russian Navy
Essie Wicked
Essie Smokin Hot
Essie Mochacino
OPI Miami Beet

My friend Meghan just shared her fall favorites here. We have a lot of similar favorites, but she mentioned a few that I don’t have in my collection and that needs to change ASAP.

Final Thoughts
I’ve heard people sing the praises of this foundation since it came out, but I wasn’t able to try it because there wasn’t a shade match for me. Too Faced recently expanded the shade range and finally there was a match for me! <<Now, can they do this to all of their products?! I want to try the Peach Foundation and the Sculpting Concealer SO BAD.>> Back to this foundation—It played well with my concealer and powder and wore so well. It wore off of my chin, but every foundation does that. I wore this for over 12 hours and I unfortunately had to sweat out in the heat and it still held up fairly well. I know I wiped some off when I blotted the sweat off my face, but a little powder would have fixed that. I’m not done testing foundations for the year, but this is sitting in the #1 spot for 2018.

Dollar Shave Club Review

What is it?
A monthly subscription service i.e. Birchbox, Ipsy, etc.
–Starter set is $5, each additional month is $9
–Can cancel any time and change delivery frequency
Starter set includes razor handle, 4 blades, and shave kit products. After that, you receive 4 new blades each month for $9 (1 blade per week)
–100% money back guarantee

What I received in my starter kit:
–Razor handle
4 blades (the Executive)
Prep scrub
Shave butter
Post shave dew

–This is targeted towards men, but I prefer to use men’s razors because I get a closer, smoother shave
–I like the scrub, didn’t like the shave butter, and the post shave dew was nothing special
–This is the BEST RAZOR EVER and I’ve tried so many different ones. I think the scrub + razor gave me the smoothest legs!
–I don’t think you need to use one blade a week though, I think that’s a little wasteful. However, I don’t shave my legs every day. #lazy #single
–I will definitely repurchase blades and would consider buying the Prep Scrub.

Billie is the same concept, aimed at women. Their starter kit is $9 and comes with the handle, razor holder, and 2 blades. It’s $9 each month for 2 blades. You can adjust, skip, or cancel anytime.
–I personally think the Dollar Shave Club is better deal and though I haven’t tried Billie, I would think quality is on par.

Mascara Monday: Jesses Girl Dial-A-Lash

–Adjustable wand allows you to increase length, volume, and curl
–Natural to maximum volume

–$7.99 @
–$14.99 @ Amazon

Shade Range
–2: Black and Brown

–4 mascaras in one
–Cruelty free
–No flaking
–No smudging

–Hard to find
–No waterproof option

#1: Natural–good separation and length
#2: Enhance–more volume, good separation and length
#3: Boost–clumpy, lease fav setting
#4: Max Volume–Most dramatic; wand took some getting used to; long, thick, & full lashes

Final Thoughts
I’m not sure where to find Jesses Girl products now that Rite Aids are closing. Obviously, it’s available online, but I don’t know what other stores carry that line. The Rite Aid near me closed so I grabbed this 70% off. I definitely thought this was a gimmicky product, but it really works! I love that it’s a 4-in-1 product for such an affordable price. I tried all 4 settings and had no flaking or smudging on any setting. This isn’t waterproof and there isn’t a waterproof option, but I laughed till I cried while wearing this and it didn’t budge.

I used my Lancome Lash Curler and the LOreal Mascara Primer each day that I tested.

Foundation Friday: Makeup Revolution First Base Stick

–Quickly perfects, contours, and highlights your complexion

–$9 at Ulta

–My shade: F3

–Shade range
–Cruelty free
–Medium to full,  buildable coverage

–Ulta exclusive
–Little difficult to blend
–No shade match for me

Final Thoughts
The lightest shade is too dark for me so I mixed it with the Models Own Foundation Stick in 01 to make it work. This foundation is SUPER creamy so be careful when you roll it up because it can make a mess and break easily. I hate there isn’t shade match for me because my skin looked flawless. I could continue to mix in the other stick, but that’s too much for me to do on the daily #lazy. If there’s a shade match for you, I recommend giving ti a go. I’m not approving it because there’s no match for me. The formula and product is good, just not for me.
