June Favorites

Charlotte Tilbury Marie Antoinette + Essence All I Need
I don’t wear eye shadow very often, but once I saw Jade share this Charlotte Tilbury cream shadow, I had to have it. I am in love with the shade! Since it’s a pretty penny, I want to be sure and use it and get my moneys worth. You could wear it alone, but I always put a powder shadow over a cream. $35 cream with a $2 powder, it’s called balance, friends.

Chanel Rouge Allure 91 Seduisante Lipstick
I went to NYC the last weekend in May for my BFFs wedding. I decided to pick this up at the airport to commemorate my trip. I love the idea of a memory being tied to a certain lipstick. For the past few years, I’ve bought myself a high end/luxury lipstick for my birthday. Each time I reach for that shade, I remember my birthday and different events from that year. Now, every time I reach for this GORGEOUS Chanel shade, I’ll remember my best friend’s wedding.

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter
I got a sample of this at Target and fell in love with the scent. I don’t like the feeling of lotion because so many are so greasy and just sit on my skin rather than sink in. Fortunately, this one doesn’t do that. It absorbs quickly, hydrates, doesn’t leave a greasy feeling, and it smells so. dang. good.

Soap & Glory Scrub of Your Life
I got this in my Target Beauty Box in May and even though I haven’t used it up yet, I already bought a back up. There was a gift set on sale that came with the scrub and the body butter and I couldn’t resist.

LOreal Elvive Color Vibrancy Repair & Protect Balm + Neutrogena Clarifying Shampoo
I only wash my hair once a week, usually on Sunday. I don’t use dry shampoo till about Thursday and if I have weekend plans, I will wash it on Friday or Saturday. I always get asked how I only wash my hair once a week. I’m very lucky and my hair just doesn’t get oily easily. The other trick is the aforementioned combo. I use this conditioning mask and leave it on about 20 minutes. I rinse it out and then use the Neutrogena shampoo. The mask/balm hydrates my hair and makes it soft and shiny and the Neutrogena gets any residue left behind from the mask and other hair products. Another bonus, they’re both at the drugstore and super affordable.

Mascara Monday: CoverGirl Flourish

–Conditions lashes
–Builds volume
–Adds definition

–$9.49 @ Ulta
–$6.94 @ Wal Mart

–Easily accessible
–Pretty packaging
–Lush ingredients

–Not very volumizing

Final Verdict
A meh product for me. I think this will be a good base mascara to lengthen and separate and then go in with a more volumizing mascara. This wand has plastic bristles so if you prefer natural bristles, pass on this one!

CoverGirl recently came out with a lash primer and it was marketed alongside this mascara so of course I grabbed it to try. There is a full review on it coming soon, but I did use it for my pictures.

Fair Skin Friday: Brightening Powders

When I first started watching YouTube and getting into makeup, banana powder was every where. Of course, I wanted to try the trend too, but there were NO shades that were light enough for me. The purpose of banana powder is to brighten, the shades I tried darkened or just blended in with my skin.

Thankfully, the makeup industry is getting more inclusive from fair to deep and there are finally some great products on the market that are great to brighten up the under eye area if you have fair skin.

Makeup Revolution Ghost Baking Powder
–$8 @ Ulta (Ulta exclusive) for 1.47 oz
–Flashes back, no good for photos
–Cruelty free
–Pure white, makes under eye SUPER bright

Essence Brighten Up! Banana Powder
–$4.99 @ Ulta for 0.31 oz
–No flashback
–Cruelty free

J Cat Luxe Pro Powder in Porcelain
–$6.99 @ Ulta (online only) for 1.5 oz
–No flashback

NYX HD Banana Powder (not pictured)
–$9.99 @ Ulta for 0.28 oz
–Cruelty free
–No flashback

Since some of these have flashback and others don’t, I took an empty powder jar and made my own mixture. I mixed the Makeup Revolution, J Cat, and I scraped some from the pan of the Essence powder. I get the benefit of all 3 and no flashback. The Ghost powder is what flashes back the worst so I used the least amount of it.

There are few others that I haven’t tried, but are on my list. They are…

Current Makeup Favorites

Y’all know I am addicted to buy and trying makeup. I’m always trying something new. Since that is the case, my favorites are always changing.

Today I’m sharing my current favorites/my every day makeup routine. I want to do this post again in December to see if my favorites have changed and what products have lasted the entire year

Yes, I use 2 primers. I use one  for hydration and one to blur & fill pores.
First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothie Primer, $14-28
elf Blur Stick, $8

If I’m not testing out something new, I usually reach for one of these two depending on what level of coverage I want.
–Full Coverage: Revlon Full Cover, $13.99
–Medium: Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable, $6.99 (full review here)

Concealer (yes, I forgot to show it)
Yes, I use 2 different concealers. The Tarte is too dark so I mix in the KVD.
Tarte Shape Tape, $27
Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme, $26

I recently ran out of my beloved RCMA so I ran to the drugstore to find a loose powder to use till I could reorder. I spray my sponge with MAC Fix+ and then go in with this. It gives a flawless finish and this matte powder looks great on my dry skin.
Rimmel Stay Matte Loose Powder, $4.99

Blush, Bronzer, Highlight
Colour Pop Noodle, $8
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer, $14.99
Colour Pop Flexitarian, $8
–Jeffree Star Eclipse (limited edition)

Eye Shadow
I saw someone share this Charlotte Tilbury cream shadow I fell in love with the color. It’s stupid expensive, but it’s good. Only I would pair a $32 base with a $2 shadow.
Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize in Marie Antoinette, $32
Essence Eyeshadow Single in All I Need, $1.99

Eye Liner
Depending on the day, I use the Milani to tight line and then use the liquid OR I use the Milani to tight line and then smudge it along my lash line. I use brown liner because it’s not as harsh on my fair skin.
Milani Stay Put Eye Liner, $6.99
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner, $22

I ALWAYS start with a primer. Full reviews coming on the Revlon and Maybelline.
LOreal Mascara Primer, $7.99

6 Month Project Pan & Reading Check In

If you aren’t familiar with what a Project Pan is or when/why I started, you should start with this post. I did a 3 month check up here should you care to follow this in sequential order.

I started with 8 products in January. So far, I’ve finished up 2 products and weeded out 2 products. Here’s the update on the 4 I have left…

MAC Studio Fix Powder
There is definitely more pan showing and that’s progress! I can/will definitely finish by the end of the year.

Colour Pop Lunch Money
I’m actually tossing this 😥 It’s old and has lost it’s vibrancy and pigmentation.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
Again, more pan showing! This is the bronzer that never ends. I use it almost daily and there’s still so much left. This is really old and I should probably toss it, BUT it’s still working well and doesn’t smell weird so I’m going to keep trucking.

Tarte Paaarty Blush
I’m whittling down and so close to hitting pan. You can see how much I’ve used by the metal that’s exposed in the pan in the picture below.

Y’all I have been slacking on my reading. I still have 13 book on this list to read and SO many others on my Kindle.

You can see the 18 books I want to read in 2018 list here.

So far I’ve read
1. Jersey Girl by Jaime Sullivan
2. Sisters First by Barbara Bush & Jenna Bush Hager
3. I Didn’t Come Here to Make Friends by Courtney Robertson
4. My Story by Elizabeth Smart
5. The Wizard of Lies by Diana B. Henriques
6. Why Her? by Nicki Koziarz

The first 5 are of my list of 18 and #6 was a Bible study I did, but that book is great and I highly recommend it. It definitely changed my perspective for the better!

I’ve got 6 months left to read 13 books, I can do it!

Foundation Friday: Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable

–Lightweight, long lasting formula
–Medium, buikldable coverage
–Won’t clog pores
–Moisturizes for up to 25 hours

Shade Range
*My shade is 81 Fair Ivory

–Easily accessible
–Shade that matches me
–Buildable coverage
–Doesn’t accentuate or look bad on my dry skin
–Long lasting

–Shade range
–Not cruelty free

Final Verdict
This foundation had horrible reviews online but I freaking LOVE it. It is one of the best drugstore foundations that I’ve tried in a while. It has a slight scent, but it smells good and doesn’t linger. If you want full coverage, this is not the product for you. I think you can build it up to medium, but it’s definitely on the lighter side. My chin is my problem area, it’s red and has some acne scars and it doesn’t cover it very well.

Before & After (don’t judge my Budweiser shirt, it’s the best PJ top ever)

My favorite way to use this is with the Jouer foundation. I use the Jouer on my chin where I really need coverage and use this all over the rest of my face. I think is perfect for the summer and hotter temperatures when you want some coverage, but it’s just too dang hot for full glam. I will be repurchasing this when I run out and that is a strong statement for me. I usually try something new, but this is a new must have for me.
