Fair Skin Friday: Bronzers

I didn’t choose the pale life. The pale life chose me. Finding a shade match for my pale skin has been an issue my ENTIRE life. There are so many products that I can’t try out or use because the lightest shade is about 2 shades too dark for me.

Y’all know I’m avid YouTube watcher and I spend a lot of time in Ulta and looking up makeup online so I’ve found some products that work well for me.

I didn’t start wearing bronzer till about 3 or 4 years ago. I could never find one that worked for me. It was either too orange, too red, or just too dark. I didn’t know what I was missing out on. Bronzer adds some warmth and definition to the face.

NARS Velvet Lip Glide Set Review

I got a tiny, little sample of the NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Bound as a 100 point perk at Sephora and it was love at first swipe. The formula is just SO good.

The color glides on like a gloss, is pigmented like a lipstick, isn’t sticky like a gloss, or dry like a liquid lipstick. I say all that to say this, IT IS AMAZING. This formula may be my top favorite lipstick formula of life and that’s a big deal.

The only draw back is the price. NARS is not cheap and these lippies are no exception. A full size is $26. Ouch.  Thankfully, the NARS & Ulta folks put together a set of 6 minis so I could get a good shade variety with dropping major monies. This set was $45, but I had some points and a coupon and was able to get it much cheaper.

There are 2 problems with this set
1) It’s sold out
2) The colors in this set were limited edition and not available in a full size

However, you can buy a set of 2 minis for $16 at Ulta and the shades in those 2 kits are shades that are in this kit. The first set is Californiacation and Staying Alive and the second has Immoral and Burning Love.

Mascara Monday: Lash Primer

Are mascara/lash primers a need or a nah? I personally think they are a definite “NEED!” It makes such a huge difference in how my lashes look when I use a primer. There are so many on the market so I thought I’d break it down for you.

What do they do?
–Amplify mascara
–Condition lashses
–Thicker, fuller lashes

If you’ve never tried a primer before, I recommend starting with one at the drugstore. You won’t have to spend a whole lot, you’ll get good results, and if you decide you don’t want that added step in your routine, you aren’t out a whole lot.

All of the aforementioned primers are white in color. I’ve heard people have issues with a white primer + black mascara=gray lashes. Obviously, that makes sense, but it’s never been a problem for me. I pile on the mascara and I’ve never had any issues with gray lashes.

However, the makeup industry listened and brought us tinted primer. I personally like the white because I like to see where I applied it and I can make sure that my mascara has covered it.

Jewelry Organization

Spoiler alert: I have a lot of jewelry.

Like, A. LOT.

Therefore, I have to keep it organized so I can find what I’m looking and see all of my options. I’ve used different methods over the years and I’m always thinking of new ways to keep all of my jewels stashed.

I have my sunglasses laid out in a monogrammed acrylic tray that was a gift. You can find a similar style here.

All of my stud earrings are stored in a lipstick holder that I got at The Container Store. If you’ve seen my lipstick collection, you  know that I quickly outgrew that organizer, but I found another way to use it!

The tall, acrylic necklace holder in the back belonged to my grandma, but you can find it here.

This is an ashtray that stayed on an end table at my grandparents’ house. My grandpa threw his change in it every day and it is one of my most prized possessions. I think of him every time I look at it. If I’m too lazy to put all my jewels back at the end of the day, I toss them in this ash tray and put them up later.

The crown ring dish is a TJ Maxx find and so perfect for me #katemiddletonismybff and the smaller ring dish to the right was a gift.

This bracelet bar is from Amazon and it holds all of my bracelets and that’s no small job. I can see all of my collection and quickly pick and choose which ones to wear each day.

As you can see, I have a slight obsession with big, statement earrings. The only problem is they are difficult to store. I had them in a 4-drawer acrylic unit, but that wasn’t working. I found these trays at TJ Maxx for $7.99 (I have 3) and they are perfect.

I also have my beauty collectibles and pretties on my chest of drawers beside my jewelry.

The hardest thing to figure out how to store were my necklaces. I have so many and some are big and heavy and others are light and dainty and it’s hard to find a system that will accommodate both. Amazon to the rescue!

I bought the hanger/hook system from Amazon for $12.99. The reviews recommended using Command Strips instead of the adhesive on the actual pieces. Well, I tried that and they fell. My daddy saved the day and drilled holes in each plastic piece, drilled holes in my closet door, and then screwed them in. They are much more secure this way! If you’re looking for a storage system for your necklaces, this one is good, but you’ll need to put some extra work in! Isn’t it just a beautiful sight?!

I’m writing this late at night so forgive me if there are grammatical errors or I’ve missed something. I’m too lazy to review #honest

–My shade is Fair

–Easy to blend
–Medium to full coverage

Final Verdict
–I LOVE this! It’s super quick and easy to apply and it blends like a dream. I want to get a darker shade to use for contouring. Stick foundations are so easy and convenient, but I’ve had a hard time finding one that matched me and looked good on my skin. These shades lean warm so I use a little bit of white mixer to make it work for me.
–Highly recommend
