I didn’t have many favorites this month, so there won’t be a favorites post on Wednesday.

I did read 2 more books of my list this month!
My Story by Elizabeth Smart
I Didn’t Come Here to Make Friends by Courtney Robertston

I’m currently reading The Wizard of Lies by Diana B. Henriques. I’m having a hard time getting into it because of the way it’s written. It doesn’t have a typical chapter set up so the flow is a little off for me, but I really want to read it so I’m pushing through. So far, I’ve read 4 of 18 and I’m only 2 months in.

Shape Tape Dupe?!

I heard talk about a Shape Tape dupe and I was down right giddy to get my hands on it and try it.

Keep reading to see if the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define is a dupe for Tarte Shape Tape!

–MUR: $7 for 0.11 oz at Ulta
–Tarte: $27 for 0.33 oz at Ulta, tartecosmetics.com

Shade Range
–MUR: 18
–Tarte: 14

–MUR: Affordable, shade range
–Tarte: Full coverage, blends easily, cruelty free & vegan, little goes a long way

–MUR: Ulta only, lightest shade is too dark for me
–Tarte: Shade range, Ulta or online only

Final Verdict
–MUR: I wanted to do a wear test, but this shade is just too dark for me. I put it on, it oxidized, and I had to take it off. I returned it.
–Tarte: I still haven’t found anything to beat Shape Tape. The lightest shade works for my skin tone, but there isn’t a shade light enough for me to highlight with. I’ve repurchased this already and I will continue to.

Underrated Products

We all know the cult classics that are always talked about on YouTube and blogs, but there are so MANY products out there.

Here are so of my favorites that I think go unnoticed.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Line
–I love every product from this line from the cleanser to the sunscreen.
–These products are easily accessible, affordable, smell good, and work so well.
–The most expensive product in the line is $20

Maybelline The Skinny Eye Liner
–I love this product for tight lining my upper lash line.
–It’s creamy enough that it glides on easily, but isn’t so creamy that it slides all over the place.

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Confidence Creamy Powder Foundation
–That’s a dang long name and all it is is a powder foundation.
–It’s my go to when I’m in a hurry. I can get full coverage with 2 light layers.

Makeup Geek Contour Powders
–No one talks about these and they are SO good and SO affordable.
–I personally think contour palettes are a bit of waste, especially for my very fair skin tone. You get 6 or more shades and you can only use a handful. For this reason, I prefer singles.
–My shade is  Break Up.

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipsticks
–I’ve tried close to 40 liquid lipsticks from all price points and these are by far my favorite.
–I’ve gotten rid of most of my other liquid lipsticks and gotten more shades in this line.
–I currently have 9 of them and I have my eye on a few more shades.

LOreal Mascara Primer
–If you’ve never used a mascara primer, I recommend trying one. More specifically, this one.
–It’s affordable and will make a huge difference

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil
–I usually don’t splurge on high end lip pencils and I got the ones I have half off so I really didn’t have to. I would, however, pay full price for these.
–They glide on so easily. I hate liners that tug!

CoverGirl 3-in-1 Foundation (not pictured)
–I LOVE this foundation for so many reasons–it’s cheap, it has a pump, there’s color that matches me, and I can get full coverage with 2 light layers.

Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipsticks (not pictured)
–I know I just said the Maybelline liquid lipsticks were my favorite, but these are a close second.
–I don’t do nude lipsticks, I prefer a light pink, and there is definitely a shade for everyone in this range.

My Favorite Brushes & Tools

I have an addiction to makeup brushes. I have more than I will ever need, but also can’t stop buying them. I definitely believe that investing in good brushes is a good idea and I’ve found lots of good brushes that are VERY affordable. You don’t have to pay major bucks for quality brushes that will last you a life time.

My favorite brands are Real Techniques, eco tools, and Morphe.

You would think I would have cleaned my brushes and tools before I took these pics and did this post, BUT we all know I’m too lazy for that. I use my tools so you are seeing them dirty. Sue me. They only touch my face so we’re good.

My Mask Collection

GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment
–$24 for 0.5 oz, $69 for 1.0 oz :: Sephora, Nordstrom, glamglow.com
–I mainly use that as a spot treatment
–So expensive, but so worth it
–Not for the faint of heart, you feel a slight burn and it will leave your skin red
–Will continue to repurchase this. I’m on my 3rd jar now.

GlamGlow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment
–$24 for 0.5 oz, $69 for 1.0 oz :: Sephora, Nordstrom, glamglow.com
–Don’t notice any changes when I use this
–Makes my skin feel soft and smooth but that’s it
–Will use up but won’t repurchase

Neutrogena Deep Clean Clay Cleanser Mask
–$2.50ish for a pod, $8ish for full size :: Target, Walgreens, Wal Mart
–Like the scent and cooling sensation
–Not a strong, deep cleaning mask like the GlamGlow, but gentle enough to be used a few times week
–For bad breakouts and acne, I don’t know that it’d do much good, but it’s a good preventative mask
–Will use up and would consider repurchasing

Hell Pore Peel Off Mask
–$10sih :: Amazon
–Dubbed the “most painful mask”
–Doesn’t pull out my blackheads or clean my pores
–Does leave my skin feeling super smooth and exfoliated
–My favorite peel off mask
–Will use up and repurchase

fresh Rose Face Mask
–$25 for 1 oz, $62 for 3.3 oz :: Sephora, Nordstrom
–Love the scent
–Leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturize, but nothing life changing
–Will use up but won’t purchase (received in Play! box)

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Pore Extractor Mask
–$18 for 1 oz, $35 for 2.5 oz :: Sephora, Ulta
–Love the scent
–Don’t notice any changes in pore size
–Great exfoliating and deep cleansing mask
–Will use up and repurchase

Neutrogena Hydro Gel Sheet Masks
–$3ish :: Ulta, Target, Wal Mart, Walgreens
–Finally a sheet masks that actually fits my faces and stays on
–Comes in 2 separate pieces, easy to apply and fit to your face
–Feels AMAZING on and my skin feels AMAZING after
–Have repurchased and will continue to

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Overnight Gel Mask
–$3ish :: Ulta, Target, Wal Mart, Walgreens
–Felt a little sticky till set/dried down
–Was hesitant to sleep in it, but it didn’t bother my skin
–If you touch your face, the mask will ball up and peel off
–Skin didn’t feel or look any different
–Will not repurchase, I’ll stick to the sheet masks

Foundation Friday: Tarte Shape Tape (Hydrating)

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation provides the same rich, creamy full coverage as Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer in a skin-smoothing, weightless gel. The collagen & hyaluronic acid-packed formula continuously hydrates while helping to plump skin & refine pores, without creasing, caking or fading for 12 hours.

$39 at Ulta, ulta.com, tartecosmetics.com *this is an Ulta exclusive

Shade Range:
14 in the hydrating formula and 18 in the matte

Cruelty free
Shade porcelain actually matches me
Held up well throughout the day

Shade range
Only sold at Ulta stores or online
Not full coverage like it claims
Don’t like the big doe foot applicator, I had to dip 6-8 times to do 2 layers

Final Verdict:
I made it work to test it out, but I didn’t end up loving it. It’s not full coverage AT ALL. I did 2 layers, had to dip 6-8 times, and still didn’t get full coverage. It not worth the hype and didn’t live up to all the chatter and excitement. I returned mine and I don’t recommend it. I think there are better, cheaper options out there.

Before & After
No makeup :: Only foundation :: Full face
