January Favorites

  • Moon & Lola Newport Bracelet–I love that I can add, move around, remove, etc. charms so easily on this bracelet. All of the charms have a special meaning to me and I love wearing this each day. I can look down at it and be flooded with good memories.
  • Apple Watch–I treated myself to this at Christmas and I am so glad I did. I got the Series 1 and I don’t know how I lived life without it.
  • Leopard Band–I’ve never met a leopard print that I didn’t love and this watch band was love at first sight. I got it on Jane.com so I can’t link it, but check back there if you’re looking for different bands. They usually have a great selection and they’re always around $10 or less.

  • Pottery Barn Tote Bag–This is actually a diaper bag, but obvi a tote is a tote. I LOVE this tote. I keep a smaller purse in it because it’s huge, that way I don’t have to lug this huge thing around. I can stuff everything in here, zip it up, and I’m out the door. I love the pockets on the inside to keep my stuff organized. Of course, I love the personalization. It’s such a great qualtiy, chic tote.
  • Dog Mom Hoodie–Another Christmas present that I love. It’s not a typical, sweatshirt style hoodie. It’s more like a t-shirt which is great for me since I’m so hot natured.
  • Moon & Lola Vineyard Ova Ring–This ring was on sale and I had a coupon code and that’s how this ring came to be mine. I can’t resist a good monogram. It’s the perfect finishing touch for any outfit and makes quite a statement.
  • Costco Robe–When I went to see my BFF in December, she took me to Costco for the first time. I purchased this robe for $15 and it is my new favorite thing. I wish it was socially acceptable to wear it out in public.
  • Lauren Akins x DIFF Ella Sunglasses–I’m OBSESSED with Thomas Rhett & Lauren Akins. They are my friends and I love them. When I saw she was coming out wiht her own design, I knew I needed to have them in my life. Santa came through and these are my new fav sunnies.

Books to Read 2018

One of my goals for 2018 is to read more. I have so many books on my Kindle and hard copy books that I need to read.

I LOVE to read, but I go in phases with it. I either read several books in a small amount of time or I don’t pick one up for months. I want to be more diligent about setting aside time to read each night. It’s a stress reliever and a good way to unwind before bed.

I love all kinds of books but I’ve really been into non-fiction for a while. My interests vary from hot topics to self-help to political and reality TV.

Fun Fact: I asked for Barack Obama’s The Audacity of Hope for Christmas when I was 15 after I saw him on Oprah’s show. I was really intrigued by this young Illinois Senator. Who would have known then that he would become POTUS?

Here are 18 books I want to read in 2018

  1. And Still She Laughs by Kate Merrick
  2. Skin Deep by Bee Shapiro
  3. The Wizartd of Lies by Diana B. Henriques
  4. Sisters First by Barbara Pierce Bush & Jenna Bush Hager
    • I’ve finished this and I loved it.
  5. Until I say Good-Bye by Susan Spencer-Wendel
  6. The Southern Education of Jersey Girl by Jaime Primak Sullivan
    • I’ve finished this and I loved it.
  7. Triumph by Carolyn Jessop
  8. Hope Heals by Catherine & Jay Wolf
  9. My Story by Elizabeth Smart
  10. I Didn’t Come Here to Make Friends by Courtney Robertson
  11. Promise Me, Dad by Joe Biden
  12. Beauty Uncertainty by Mandy Hale
  13. I’ve Never Been to Vegas but My Luggage has by Mandy Hale
  14. Breaking Free by Rachel Jeffs
  15. Between Breaths by Elizabeth Vargas
  16. My Beautiful Struggle by Jordan Bone
  17. It’s Messy by Amanda de Cadenet
  18. The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson

I would link all these, but I’m too lazy for that and I know y’all are capable of using Amazon/Google.

If I start reading a book and I don’t like it, I don’t make myself finish it. If I’m not into after a few chapters, it’s just not meant to be.

Whenever I hear/see a book that I want to read, I immediately add it to my Kindle Wish List. Every few weeks, I go check my Wish List, arrange it from low to high, and purchase a few books off there that have gone on sale. I RARELY buy a book when it releases because it’s so expensive. Kindle books go on sale all the time, sometimes for as little as $1.99, and that’s when I scoop them up.

I read on the Kindle app on my iPad because I used to have a Kindle and that’s where most of my books are but I have checked out iBooks, but I’ll probably stick with the Kindle app.

If you have any favorites that I need to add to my list, let me know!

Foundation Friday: Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage

Be your own professional makeup artist with Maybelline’s Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation. Saturated color pigments provide an ultra-transforming effect in this long-lasting foundation. The lightweight, yet high-impact coverage formula glides onto the skin for a flawless finish that lasts all day.

$11.99 at Ulta
$9.99 at Target, Walgreens, & Amazon
$9.98 at Wal Mart

Shade Range:
16 shades (my shade is Fair Porcelain)

Easily accessible
Full coverage
Oil free
Lightest shade actually matches me

Very thick
Not cruelty free
Difficult to blend

Final Verdict:
I can’t use this by itself, I have to mix it with an oil to make it work for my dry skin. It doesn’t blend easily with a sponge since it’s thicker so if you’re using alone, I recommend using a brush. I mixed with the Physicians Formula Oil and used my eco tools sponge to blend it out. It’s not my go to since I have to make it work, but I do like it and the coverage is great. I will use it up, but I don’t know that I would repurchase.

Primer: First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothie
Oil Mixer: Physicians Formula Bright Booster Oil Elixir
Blending Sponge: eco tools Perfecting Cushion Blender
Setting Powder: RCMA No Color Powder with Real Techniques Body Sponge

Project Pan 2018

If you aren’t familiar with the “project pan” concept, the short version is you select products from your collection that you want to use up or “pan.”

I’ve really been trying to use up products I have before buying more, but that doesn’t always happen as I have an addiction to shopping and makeup. Oops?

However, there are a few products in my collection that I have hit pan on that I would like to finish up this year.

Clearly, I’m really close on some of these and have a ways to go on others.

  1. Tarte Double Duty Beauty Confidence Creamy Powder Foundation in Fair Neutral
    • There’s a shade that is light enough for me
    • This has good coverage for a powder foundation
    • Would consider repurchasing this
  2. Colour Pop No Filter Concealer in Fair
    • I love the price and the coverage is good, but Fair is a little too dark.
    • I mix it with my KVD concealer and make it work, but it’s not my ideal shade.
  3. MAC Studio Fix Powder in NC15
    • This is slightly too dark for me so I put this on first and then the Tarte powder. These two give me full coverage quickly.
  4. Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer in 00A Porcelain
    • I love the coverage of this foundation, but it’s pretty thick and I have to mix in a oil to make it work for my dry skin.
    • I can only find my shade online so that’s a bummer too.
    • I’m going to do a full review soon.
  5. Colour Pop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in Lunch Money
    • LOVE this highlighter. Clearly.
    • It’s perfect on it’s own and definitely packs a punch, but I often had a powder highlighter because #extra and I glow to the Heavens.
  6. Limelight by Alcone Botanical Foundation in Ivory
    • Spoiler alert: there’s a full review of this foundation going up tomorrow.
    • Full coverage in a flash
    • Will definitely repurchase
  7. Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Light Bronze
    • I went hard with this when it first came out because for the first time there was a bronzer that actually worked for my skin tone. THANK YOU, PHYSICIANS FORMULA!
    • Once Hoola Lite came on the scene, I kinda let this go to the side, but I’m picking it back up and hoping to finish it.
  8. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaarty
    • I haven’t hit pan on this, but I’ve got to be getting close.
    • This is one of my favorite blushes and I wear it all.the.time.

I’m going to be doing an update in June and a finale in Friday.

Thanks to Santa and Sephora point perks, I was able to get my hands on some new and new to me products. Hauls are my favorite videos to watch on YouTube and I hope you enjoy reading!

Naturally, the day my Ulta order was delivered, I got a 20% off your entire purchase (including prestige brands) in my mail box. The devil is always working and tempting me!

Have you picked up anything new lately?

If I Were A Rich Girl…

If I were fancy and had lots of dollars to spend on luxury makeup, these are the products I would buy.

The most I have ever spent on a makeup products was $90 for the Louboutin lipstick and I did it without batting a lash because Loubs are life and I needed it.

However, I don’t drop major monies on products on a regular basis. I do treat myself to a more expensive lipstick for my birthday each year, but other than that, you can catch me me in the drugstore section of Ulta.

  • Chanel Soleil Tan by Chanel
    • Everyone on YouTube raves about this cream bronzer. I’ve never been interested in it because I’ve always assumed it was too dark for my skin tone. However, I’ve seen some more fair skinned gals using it so I think it would work for me. I need to know if it lives it up to the hype.
  • Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm in Berry
    • I have a similar product from elf and I LOVE it. I’d love to try the OG to see if the elf is really as good as I think it is. Plus, Dior lipsticks are just so dang pretty.
  • YSL Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain
    • Y’all know I love a good liquid lip and the color No 22 Coral Anti Mainstream is what attracted me to this products. It’s such a gorgeous, unique shade.
  • Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
    • This another YouTube hyped product and I’ve always had oily skin so I knew it would not be a good look for me. Since my skin is more dry now, I would love to see if it is really THAT good.
  • Tatcha Water Cream
    • I love gel based moisturizers and I’ve never tried a Tatcha product, but it’s top shelf skincare.
    • I recently got a 100 point perk of this from Sephora but I haven’t tried it yet.
  • Tata Harper Clarifying Mask
    • This is a highly rated product at Sephora and I’ve seen it in several magazines. I’m all for any masks that aims to help with acne and clear up your skin.
  • Sunday Riley UFO Face Oil
    • I don’t know who Sunday Riley is, but he/she thinks A LOT of their products. This is another acne, clear skin, life changing product.
  • Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base
    • The actual primer looks really similar to my beloved First Aid Beauty primer which is a fraction of the cost. I’d like to put the two head to head and see who wins.
  • Guerlain Meteorites Highlighter Powder Pearls
    • These are just plain pretty

Truth be told, the only product I would potentially buy from this list is the Chanel Bronzer. The rest, I will just get a sample at Sephora.

Here’s the thing about luxury products, you are paying for the name only. Nine times out of ten, the product is nothing special. They entice with the well known name and the pretty packaging and take your money. However, I do think it’s nice to #treatyoself every now and then.

And, there’s my two cents on luxury beauty. Carry on.
